Zu Anfang des Krieges wurde er in das 91er Regiment in Budweis eingezogen. Bereits 1914 wurde er gefangen genommen und kam in ein Kriegsgefangenenlager in Sibirien. Dort arbeitete er in einem Bleibergwerk und zog sich bei eisiger Kälte Erfrierungen zu. Erst 1920 konnte er nach Winterberg zurückkehren; wobei er von Weißrussland bis in den Böhmerwald zu Fuß ging. Nach seiner Rückkehr trat er 1920 dem Veteranenverein Winterberg bei, von dem dieses Kreuz stammt. Markowetz war bis zur Vertreibung aus dem Böhmerwald Mitglied des Veteranenvereins. Sein Enkel Sepp Sager lebt heute in Schönberg im Landkreis Regen. In der Audiodatei erzählt Sepp Sager von dem Kreuz. --- Dědeček Seppa Sagera Josef Markowetz pocházel z Vimperku na Šumavě. Na začátku války narukoval k 91. pluku v Českých Budějovicích. Již v roce 1914 byl však zajat a umístěn do zajateckého tábora na Sibiři, kde pracoval v olověném dole. Při práci v mrazu si přivodil omrzliny. Teprve v roce 1920 se mohl vrátit do Vimperku, velkou část cesty, z Běloruska až na Šumavu absolvoval pěšky. Po svém návratu v roce 1920 vstoupil do spolku vimperských veteránů, od kterého pochází tento kříž. Markowetz byl členem spolku až do vysídlení ze Šumavy. Dnes žije jeho vnuk Sepp Sager v Schönbergu v okrese Regen. Na zvukovém záznamu vypráví Sepp Sager o tomto kříži. Freyung-Grafenau) besitzt einige Erinnerungsstücke an ihren Onkel Franz Waldhauser, den Bruder ihrer Mutter, der im Ersten Weltkrieg kämpfte. Sie hat auch eine Ausgabe der Bayerischen Waldzeitung aufbewahrt. Die Bayerische Waldzeitung/das Zwieseler Tagblatt ist das Lokalblatt für Zwiesel und den Grenzbezirk sowie das Amtsblatt des Stadtmagistrats Zwiesel; so ist es in der Überschrift auf Seite 1 abgedruckt. Sie ist datiert auf Sonntag, den 16. Dezember 1917. Die Seiten sind leicht gelb und löchrig, ansonsten gut erhalten, aber sehr porös und behutsam zu behandeln. In der Mitte ist sie bereits durchgerissen und die beiden Teile wurden für die Fotografie zusammengelegt. Sie beinhaltet auf 4 Seiten zahlreiche Artikel über den Krieg, u.A. Berichte von Schlachten, Karikaturen und zeichnerische Erklärungen, Propaganda, aber auch Werbung für Kriegsversicherungen und Kriegsanleihen sowie alltägliche Nachrichten und Werbung für zivile Produkte für Handwerk, Industrie und Haushalt. --- Paní Marie Scholzová vlastní několik vzpomínkových předmětů od svého strýce Franze Waldhausera, bratra její matky, který bojoval v první světové válce. Vlastní také jedno vydání „Bavorských lesních“ novin. Zwieselský deník je jak místním zpravodajem pro Zwiesel a přilehlou příhraniční oblast, tak i úředním věstníkem magistrátu města Zwiesel, jak také stojí na 1. stránce. Noviny jsou datovány na neděli 16. prosince 1917. Stránky jsou lehce nažloutlé a proděravělé, jinak však dobře zachované, ale velice porézní a musí být s nimi opatrně zacházeno. Noviny jsou uprostřed již protržené a oba díly byly pro pořízení fotografie složeny. Na 4 stránkách obsahují noviny mnoho článků o válce, mimo jiné zprávy z bitev, karikatury a kreslená vysvětlení, propagandu, ale také reklamu na válečné pojištění a válečné půjčky, denní zprávy a reklamu na civilní výrobky pro řemeslníky, průmysl a domácnost. Regen) erbte von seinem Großvater und Namensvetter Josef Penzkofer dessen Militärpass und ein Gruppenfoto. In dem Interview berichtete er, dass er sich als junger Mensch nicht für den Ersten Weltkrieg interessiert habe und somit seinem Großvater keine Fragen in diese Richtung gestellt habe. Der Ausweis seines Großvaters Josef Penzkofer ist ein vorgedruckter Militärpass mit einheitlichem Inhalt, ausgenommen der handschriftlichen Vermerke in den Leerzeilen. Er dokumentiert die Einberufung, persönliche Daten, Teilnahme an und Daten von Schlachten sowie Verwundungen oder den Todesfall.“ Auf der Vorderseite erkennt man den Aufdruck der kaiserlichen Krone, den Schriftzug „Militärpaß“ und Jahresklasse 18-- mit 2 Leerstellen in denen die Zahlen 9 und 4 hineingeschrieben wurden (1894) sowie 3 Leerzeilen darüber. In den ersten beiden Leerzeilen wurde handschriftlich vermerkt „Kanonier Penzkofer Josef“. Über dem Aufdruck steht das Wort Landsturm handschriftlich vermerkt. Der Militärpass ist am linken Rand teilweise mit Tesafilm fixiert, da das Papier aufgrund seines Alters sehr fraglich ist; es ist bereits stark gelb verfärbt. --- Josef Penzkofer zdědil po svém dědečkovi a jmenovci Josefu Penzkoferovi jeho vojenskou knížku a skupinovou fotografii. V rozhovoru vypráví, že jako mladého člověka ho první světová válka nezajímala, proto se svého dědečka na první světovou válku nevyptával. Předtištěná vojenská knížka sloužila Josefu Penzkoferovi jako průkaz. Vojenská knížka dokumentuje datum odvodu, soukromé údaje, účast v bitvách, stejně jako zranění nebo úmrtí. Mezery určené k zaznamenání údajů jsou vyplněné ručně. Na přední straně je vidět potisk císařské koruny, popisek „Militärpaß“ a ročník 18__ se dvěma mezerami, do kterých byly vepsány číslovky 9 a 4 (1894). Na přední straně vojenské knížky jsou ještě tři prázdné řádky k ručnímu zaznamenání údajů. V prvních dvou řádcích bylo ručně zaznamenáno „Dělostřelec Penzkofer Josef“. Nad potiskem je ručně poznamenáno, že Penzkofer byl příslušníkem „Landsturmu“. V jednotkách „Landsturmu“ sloužili nejstarší odvedenci bavorské armády. Vojenský průkaz je na levé straně zčásti slepen izolepou, neboť starý a silně nažloutlý papír již ztratil svou pevnost. Tage"<br />Pohlednice "Záloha má ještě … dní" Subject The topic of the resource Front Korrespondenz Description An account of the resource Die farbigen Postkarten waren der Grund dafür, dass Frau Theresie Kern aus Bischofsmais (Lkr. Regen) ihre Erbstücke aus der Zeit des Ersten Weltkrieges noch nicht entsorgt hatte. Sie seien künstlerisch so schön, dass sie sie gelegentlich hervorholt, um sie sich anzuschauen. Die Sammlung stammt von ihrem Schwiegervater Joseph Preis, der im Ersten Weltkrieg kämpfte und in französische Kriegsgefangenschaft kam. Sie enthält neben schwarz-weißen Postkarten auch glatte Farbdrucke sowie Karten, die im Tiefdruckverfahren hergestellt wurden, so auch diese. Auf der Postkarte kann man erkennen, welche Effekte ein solches Tiefdruckverfahren erzielt: Einzelne Teile des Bildes sind durch Wölbungen hervorgehoben, die mit Farbe ausgefüllt sind. In diesem Fall sind es die schwarzen und goldenen Banner an den Lanzen, die beiden Fahnen, die Kanonen sowie die Waffen und Rüstung darunter. Die Postkarte trägt den Schriftzug „Reserve hat noch … Tage“. Hier wurden im Satz drei ovale, gold umrandete Löcher gelassen, um Ziffernblätter für die Anzeige der Tage einfügen zu können. Zudem befindet sich in der Mitte der Karte ein Kreis, um den Stempel der jeweiligen Kompanie ergänzen zu können. --- V osobním archivu paní Theresie Kernové z obce Bischofsmais (okres Regen) se nachází několik kousků z období první světové války. Pohlednice z první světové války jsou prý natolik krásné, že si je občas vyndá k prohlížení. To ji prý vedlo k tomu, že se rozhodla zděděné předměty z první světové války zatím nevyhodit. Sbírka pochází od jejího tchána Josefa Preise, který bojoval v první světové válce a který se dostal do francouzského válečného zajetí. Kromě černobílých pohlednic obsahuje sbírka také hladké barevné tisky a pohlednice vyrobené metodou hlubotisku. Na příkladu této pohlednice lze vidět, jakých výsledků bylo možné metodou hlubotisku dosáhnout: jednotlivé části obrazu jsou zvýrazněny klenutími, která jsou vyplněna barvami. V tomto případě jsou to černé a zlaté prapory na kopích, dvě vlajky, děla, zbraně a brnění nacházející se pod nimi. Pohlednice nese nápis „Záloha má ještě … dní“. Zde byly ponechány tři zlatě lemované oválné dírky pro připevnění ciferníků sloužících k zaznamenávání počtu zbývajících dní.
