                <text>﻿Sepp Sagers Großvater Josef Markowetz stammt aus Winterberg im Böhmerwald. Zu Anfang des Krieges wurde er in das 91er Regiment in Budweis eingezogen. Bereits 1914 wurde er gefangen genommen und kam in ein Kriegsgefangenenlager in Sibirien. Dort arbeitete er in einem Bleibergwerk und zog sich bei eisiger Kälte Erfrierungen zu. Erst 1920 konnte er nach Winterberg zurückkehren; wobei er von Weißrussland bis in den Böhmerwald zu Fuß ging.&#13;
&#13;
Nach seiner Rückkehr trat er 1920 dem Veteranenverein Winterberg bei, von dem dieses Kreuz stammt. Markowetz war bis zur Vertreibung aus dem Böhmerwald Mitglied des Veteranenvereins. Sein Enkel Sepp Sager lebt heute in Schönberg im Landkreis Regen.&#13;

Dědeček Seppa Sagera Josef Markowetz pocházel z Vimperku na Šumavě. Na začátku války narukoval k 91. pluku v Českých Budějovicích. Již v roce 1914 byl však zajat a umístěn do zajateckého tábora na Sibiři, kde pracoval v olověném dole. Při práci v mrazu si přivodil omrzliny. Teprve v roce 1920 se mohl vrátit do Vimperku, velkou část cesty, z Běloruska až na Šumavu absolvoval pěšky.&#13;
&#13;
Po svém návratu v roce 1920 vstoupil do spolku vimperských veteránů, od kterého pochází tento kříž. Markowetz byl členem spolku až do vysídlení ze Šumavy. Dnes žije jeho vnuk Sepp Sager v Schönbergu v okrese Regen.&#13;

Im Interview liest und deutet/kommentiert Historiker und Kreisheimatpfleger Gerhard Ruhland aus Freyung (Landkreis Freyung-Grafenau) die Dankesurkunde von 1919 seines Großvaters Michael Ruhland. Die Dankesurkunde gibt ein illustres Zeugnis von der Geschlossenheit der sogenannten deutschen „Volksgemeinschaft“, die seit August 1914 im Zuge des Hurra-Patriotismus herbeigeschworen worden war. Bei Kriegsende 1918 wurde an allen Orten des gesamten damaligen Deutschen Reiches die von den Fronten heimkehrenden Truppen und einzelnen Soldaten festlich begrüßt und empfangen. Mit der von Gerhard Ruhland im Interviewmitschnitt gelesenen und kommentierten Dankesurkunde aus dem Privatarchiv des Historikers und Kreisheimatpflegers aus Freyung kann das konstruierte Geschichtsbild der politischen Rechten aus der Weimarer Zeit von der „treulosen“ Heimatfront und dem „undankbaren Vaterland“ entkräftet werden.&#13;
&#13;
Neben dem Thema des „glücklichen“ Wiedersehens "in der Heimat" der in Waffen stehenden Väter und Söhne nimmt vor allem die Erinnerung an die ursprünglich „friedlichen“ Motive für die allgemeine Mobilmachung vom August 1914 den zentralen Platz in den Paarreimen der Dankesurkunde ein. Das zentrale Paarreim aus dem Gedicht der Dankesurkunde, das den „Verteidigungskrieg“ an gleich zwei, gar drei Fronten andeuten soll, zitiert und bejaht offen den poetisch formulierten politischen Wunsch aus dem Gedicht "Deutschlands Beruf" von 1861 des spätromantischen Lyrikers Emanuel Geibel (1815 – 1884): „Und es mag am deutschen Wesen / Einmal noch die Welt genesen.“ Allerspätestens in der Wilhelminischen Ära (1890 - 1914) des von Bismarck gegründeten Deutschen Kaiserreiches war daraus die imperative und imperiale politische Phrase: „Am deutschen Wesen SOLL die Welt genesen“ abstrahiert worden. Nach Scheitern des deutschen Alleinanspruches auf Seligmachung in der Welt “schrumpfte“ zum Zeitpunkt des Kriegsendes 1918 die Phrase auf Prachtblättern auf den originären, ursprünglich friedlich und defensiv gemeinten Wortlaut von Emmanuel Geibels Versen erneut zusammen, das im historischen Vakuum zwischen dem einstigen "Impetus" (Gerhard Ruhland) der verloren gegangenen Macht und Größe unter Wilhelm II. und der „Dämonisierung“ (Julien Rochedy) Deutschlands durch die alleierten Siegermächte während der Pariser Friedensverhandlungen (1919 - 1920) in Hinblick auf den weiteren Verlauf des 20. Jarhunderts eine gänzlich neue politische Qualität erhalten sollte.</text>
