Beide waren zu Beginn des Krieges zunächst der österreichischen Armee beigetreten. Später schlossen sie sich der Tschechoslowakischen Legion in Russland an und kämpfte somit gegen die Mittelmächte, auf deren Seite der jüngere Bruder Vít eingesetzt war. Vojtěch und František kehrten erst 1920 wieder nach Hause zurück. In der Audiodatei spricht Jitka Saková, die Tochter von Vít Janeček über diese Rückkehr: --- Fotografie zobrazuje bratry Františka a Vojtěcha Janečkovy po jejich návratu z Ruska v roce 1920 zřejmě (s největší pravděpodobností) na nádraží v Českých Budějovicích. Oba narukovali nejprve do rakousko-uherské armády, později se však připojili k československým legiím v Rusku, které bojovaly proti Ústředním mocnostem. Tím pádem se ocitli na opačné straně konfliktu, než jejich mladší bratr Vít, který bojoval v řadách rakousko-uherské armády. Vojtěch s Františkem se vrátili domů teprve v roce 1920. Na zvukovém záznamu mluví Jitka Saková, dcera Víta Janečka o tomto návratu: „…. Das Porträt entstand vermutlich nach dem Krieg 1920. František Janeček trat zu Beginn des Krieges wie sein Bruder Vojtěch zunächst der österreichischen Armee bei. Später schlossen sich beide der Tschechoslowakischen Legion in Russland an und kämpfte somit gegen die Mittelmächte, auf deren Seite der jüngere Bruder Vít eingesetzt war. Anton Stini se narodil ve vesnici Olšina, působil dlouhá léta jako městský, obvodní a lázeňský lékař v lázních sv. Markéty u Prachatic a byl prvním primářem v prachatické nemocnici. Během první světové války byl přidělen jako šéflékař k Maltézskému praporu č. 35, který měl úlohu těžce zraněné přepravovat ze všech bojišť do různých nemocnic v zázemí. Na těchto cestách ho doprovázel jeho syn Dr. Walter Stini. / rechts Anton Stini, links sein Sohn Walter Stini. Anton Stini wurde in dem Dorf Olšina geboren, er wirkte lange Jahre als städtischer, Bezirks- und Bäderarzt im Bad Hl. Markéta bei Prachatitz. Er wurde erster Chefarzt im Prachatitzer Krankenhaus. Während des Ersten Weltkrieges wurde Stini als Chefarzt dem Maltesterkorps Nr. 35 zugeteilt, dessen Aufgabe es war, Schwerverletzte von unterschiedlichen Kampfplätzen in Krankenhäuser ins Hinterland zu überführen. Auf diesen Reisen begleitete ihn sein Sohn Dr. Walter Stini.
