Juni 1898 in Moldautein (Týn nad Vltavou) geboren. Das Gymnasium besuchte er in Budweis, verließ jedoch die Schule, um in der österreichischen Armee im Ersten Weltkrieg zu kämpfen. Womöglich sollten die Bilder einen Eindruck von der überlegenen deutschen Militärmacht, Ordnung und Disziplin im bereits eroberten und besetzten Land des "Erbfeindes" vermitteln. Fest steht: Die Rückseite der Feldpostkarten verrät, dass der deutsche Unternehmer Heinrich Knobloch aus Blasewitz bei Dresden für die "Auslieferung" verantwortlich zeichnet. Mit dem offenbar deutschland- wie frontweiten Vertrieb der beschreibbaren und per Post versendbaren Momentaufnahmen leistete er seinen Beitrag zur "hurrapatriotischen" Kriegspropaganda. Unzweifelhaft ist auch, dass man sich während des Ersten Weltkrieges in einem wohlhabenden Villenort wie Blasewitz von Krieg und Zerstörung, Gewalt und Tod sowie militärischer Besatzung, Hunger und Not sicher wähnen konnte.
