Die Mehrheit der Soldaten kehrten nach 1920 in ihre Heimat zurück. Später wurde auf dem Schönberger Hausberg, dem Kadernberg ein Gedenkstein errichtet.\r\n\r\nAuf dem Denkmal ist geschrieben: „Zur Erinnerung auf die guten Tage in Schönberg. Die Kameraden im Vereinslazarett 1915.“ Das Foto, auf dem das Denkmal zu sehen ist, hat Sepp Sager 1991 aufgenommen. \r\n\r\n---\r\n\r\nV roce 1915 se v Schönbergu nacházel lazaret, ve kterém byli ubytováni vojáci z Chotěbuze. Po roce 1920 se většina z nich vrátila zpět do své vlasti. Později byl na schönberském kopci, Kadernbergu, vztyčen pamětní kámen.\r\n\r\nNa památníku je napsáno: „Pro vzpomínku na dobré časy v Schönbergu. Zu Anfang des Krieges wurde er in das 91er Regiment in Budweis eingezogen. Bereits 1914 wurde er gefangen genommen und kam in ein Kriegsgefangenenlager in Sibirien. Dort arbeitete er in einem Bleibergwerk und zog sich bei eisiger Kälte Erfrierungen zu. Erst 1920 konnte er nach Winterberg zurückkehren; wobei er von Weißrussland bis in den Böhmerwald zu Fuß ging.\r\n\r\nNach seiner Rückkehr trat er 1920 dem Veteranenverein Winterberg bei, von dem dieses Kreuz stammt. Markowetz war bis zur Vertreibung aus dem Böhmerwald Mitglied des Veteranenvereins. Sein Enkel Sepp Sager lebt heute in Schönberg im Landkreis Regen.\r\n\r\nIn der Audiodatei erzählt Sepp Sager von dem Kreuz. \r\n\r\n---\r\n\r\nDědeček Seppa Sagera Josef Markowetz pocházel z Vimperku na Šumavě. Na začátku války narukoval k 91. pluku v Českých Budějovicích. Již v roce 1914 byl však zajat a umístěn do zajateckého tábora na Sibiři, kde pracoval v olověném dole. Při práci v mrazu si přivodil omrzliny. Teprve v roce 1920 se mohl vrátit do Vimperku, velkou část cesty, z Běloruska až na Šumavu absolvoval pěšky.\r\n\r\nPo svém návratu v roce 1920 vstoupil do spolku vimperských veteránů, od kterého pochází tento kříž. Markowetz byl členem spolku až do vysídlení ze Šumavy. Der Verein für Erneuerung und Entwicklung von Oberplan ließ es reinigen und erneut aufstellen. Zu den Überbleibseln aus dem Ersten Weltkrieg und deren Besitzern hat er viele Informationen und kann einige Geschichten erzählen. In dem Interview erzählt er von seiner Tätigkeit.\r\n\r\nAuf der Gedenktafel der Gemeinde Tittling und Witzmannsberg für die Gefallenen und Vermissten der Gemeinde zwischen 1914 und 1918 sind 99 ovale schwarz-weiß Fotografien als Collage zusammengestellt. Unter jedem Bild sind die Vornamen und Familiennamen des Abgebildeten als runder Schriftzug gedruckt. Die Tafel ist von Lorbeerkränzen umgeben und an beiden Seiten oben hängen Eiserne Kreuze als Orden stellvertretend für alle Gefallenen.\r\n\r\n---\r\n\r\nHerbert Zauhar je dobrovolný vlastivědný badatel a bývalý starosta Tittlingu, který již 10 let sbírá historické dokumenty a předměty ze své obce. O pozůstalostech z první světové války a jejich majitelích ví  mnoho a zná také několik s nimi spojených příběhů (podobně jako mnozí další vlastivědní badatelé v Bavorsku). V rozhovoru se Herbert Zauhar zmiňuje o své činnosti dobrovolného vlastivědného badatele. \r\n\r\nNa pamětní desce obce Tittling a Witzmannsberg, která připomíná padlé a pohřešované mezi lety 1914-1918 je vystaveno 99 oválných uměleckých černobílých fotografií. Pod každou fotografií je vytištěno křestní jméno a příjmení. Nápisy jsou zahnuté do oblouku a kopírují tak oválný tvar fotografií. Tabule je obklopena vavřínovými věnci, na obou stranách nahoře visí Železné kříže, které představují vyznamenání všech padlých.
